A picture from Frank Gilbreth

Frank Gilbreth first started light painting photography.  I think he's really cool because he wasn't trying to make art, he was trying to find a way to simplify the work process.  In doing so, he found a way to make an art that is unique and interesting.

Three Favorite Framing Pictures

I think this is one of my best photos because it has a really good color contrast with the clouds.  The clouds are a much more defined brighter color, and the buildings more dull.  I also like the element of how big the building looks because you can also see the people in comparison.

This picture demonstrates the leading lines angle.  I think it's interesting because it shows the ladder from a different angle than people would normally expect.  I also like how it could be used as a frame within a frame picture.  This picture uses the left side of the ladder to differentiate between the clouds and the geometric shapes of the building.

This is my favorite picture because it gets the focus on the waterdroplets and leaf in the front.  I used the zoom and a little bit of background elements angle in this shot.  There's also a contradicting element in this photo because the thorns are blurred which makes them look softer instead of sharp as they usually are percieved.

Framing Slideshow

In my photography class, I had an assignment where I focused on different framing angles.  Each picture focuses on a certain angle like diagonals, wide, rule of thirds, etc.

Pictures from other Photographers

This picture was taken by Nigel Roddis.  I really like Roddis because he does a good job of capturing the intensity of soccer.  I particularly like this picture because it shows how badly these players want to win.  I also think it has very interesting composition because of the player falling on the other.  It looks as if he were photoshopped in.  I love how he focused on the foreground.

This was photographed by Ted Szukalski.  The composition on this photo is brilliant.  The reflection of the cars against all the mirrors is really creative.  It's intriguing and makes me do a double take to really figure out what's going on. I like Szukalski because he takes lots of photos of everyday life and makes them interesting.

Michael Nichols is the photographer who took this image.  He does lots of work for National Geographic magazines.  This is one of my favorite pictures because I wonder what the tigers life story is.  I also like how the grass is like a frame all around the tigers.
